In 2018 - (16 years later) I have renewed, updated and added to the site - enjoy!
Added photos, audio recordings and old 8mm Movies, some never seen before and MORE to be added.
Dedicated to - two legends of Midget Speedcar Racing - 1/4 Mile Dirt Track.
Trevor Jackson MORRIS and father Jackson George 'Snow' MORRIS.
New Zealand 'Kiwi's' born and breed. This was the era, within speedcar racing when a drivers skill was his advantage over his opponent. This was the era when people couldn't understand the need for a 'roll bar' on a midget car. When as a youngster I remember the thrill to stand on the infield during a race, at the very edge of the dirt oval - the smell of racing fuel, the scream of a midget engines - the speed.... I still remember the look in their eyes - all only a few feet away.
Here is a collection of photos, videos and audio recordings, from between 1940's and 1976 speedway seasons which follow a brief history of Trevor and Snowr MORRIS. The impression they etched on Speedway fans in New Zealand and overseas as a result of their racing skills and accomplishments, along with the respect of local and international drivers has placed Snow and Trevor MORRIS in a small elite group of 'New Zealand Speedway Greats' and into history, without a doubt.
If you remember when Trevor Morris drove with the likes of Barry Butterworth, Ted Tracey, Leo Vercoe, Pat Johnson, Ray Alach or even earlier when Snow Morris drove with the likes of Frank Brewer, Reece Discombe, Ross Goonan, Roly Crowther, Ian Holden or Ron Sutherland - then many of the photos, videos and audio recordings here will flood back those memories. Sit back and take a look at a rare period in New Zealand Speedway as it was 'moulded' by a handful of drivers, into an era that truly no longer exists.
